Dinner @ Maze Grill

We're returning to Maze Grill and this time we've been joined by fellow eators, Al and Elle.

As we're early for our booking we spend the time at the Maze bar and start the evening off with cocktails.

Can't remember the name of this one but I do recall that it has maple syrup in it.

Starters:

We're sharing dishes from both the starters and share plates menu.

The Charcuterie plate is as good as it was last time.

At the front, bottom left are the Crispy Pig's trotters with Ravigote dressing.
Next to the board are the Arancini balls with basil pesto and Chorizo, Piquillo peppers, confit potatoes and shallots.

The arancini are really delicate and if you were judging on size and apperance, they do look like Ascolana olives. On taste, they were perfect examples of arancini, creamy rice, crisp coating.

The pig's trotters are just too delicious, meltingly soft and gelatinous, complemented with the tangy ravigote dressing.

Excellent dense and meaty chorizo combined with potatoes and peppers - obviously a combination that works.

Mains:

Crisp skin, juicy fish, good savoury flavours from the salad.

The initial flavour is of honey but then you get a gentle warmth coming through from the harissa. Absolutely beautifully cooked, the poussin was moist and tender.

Unfortunately the photo of this dish didn't turn out so I'm using the photo taken from our previous visit.

We did go a bit overboard with desserts but they are all quite light.

  1. It seems like it is worth visiting but isn't it quite pricey as well?

  2. It's very good value for the quality, I don't know where you get the idea that it's pricey. The small plates are only $11 - that is a bargain. The charcuterie platter is $21, mains are in the high $20's to low $30's and the steak is way cheaper than you'll get at Rockpool etc. Desserts are around $12.
