Dinner @ Osteria La Passione

It has been a few weeks but we're back at Osteria La Passione - I think it is quite safe to say that we are enamoured by this place.

Dinner is degustation only - starting at 6 courses for $75 - you can have more but it will cost more and currently it is BYO only as they await their liquor license. There is no menu however they do ask if you have any preferences and adjust accordingly.


Tonight we begin with a slice of frittata.

Garfish

Exceptionally light batter on this garfish - the flesh still soft and moist - one of my favourite fish.

Eggplant Parmigiana

Still one of the best examples of parmigiana to be had.

Goat Offal

The agro-dolce (sweet/sour) notes are the perfect foil the the grilled offal.

Secret Meat Braesola

Grilled Polenta with lardo and salsa verde

This is like heaven on a plate - the warmth of the grilled polenta is just starting to melt that wonderful lardo while the slightly acidic nature of the salsa cleanses the palate allowing you to savour every mouthful.

Quail and Lentils

Tender and juicy quail served on a simple lentil stew.

Wild Mushroom Tagliatelle

A dish that celebrates the season - chestnut flour pasta, freshly pickled wild mushrooms - simple yet deep in flavour

White fish with Clams

Tiramisu

Lovely as always.

Roast Fig and Marscapone Tart

Excellent short, buttery pastry case - a lovely end to the meal.
