We are met at the station by our lovely hostess Elisa and somehow we all manage to squeeze into her little Fiat car, luggage included for the short drive to the apartment.
The apartment is a good size, consisting of a huge bedroom and bathroom and a combined kitchen and living area.
As we settle in Elisa lets us know that there's a truffle festival on this weekend, we sheepishly tell her that is the reason we've come!
We don't really need directions to find the festival - as we get closer the scent of truffles leads us on. It's hard not to stop smiling.
I haven't bothered to take a camera with me, I'll get photos tomorrow of the festival, but we do end up buying a lovely white truffle - on our way back to the apartment we also get eggs - scrambled eggs with truffle is on tomorrows menu.
For dinner we have a booking at Il Postale which is a one Michelin star restaurant - our very first!
Trio of Foie Gras - this was such a skilful dish, the foie gras presented almost as an entree, main and dessert - one of the components was a foie gras soufflé which was a standout.
