While waiting for the connecting train to Budapest I exchange some Euros for Hungarian currency (Forints). I also get information about this train - unlike what I've been told in Berlin, there actually is a first class section, it's not booked out and in fact, you don't even have to make bookings!
The train is totally different to the ones I've travelled on - there are booths with six chairs. I end up having the whole booth to myself.
For the first time since I've reached continental europe there are passport controls. Near the border towns I'm first checked by the Austrian authorities and then by the Hungarian. I even get two stamps in my passport!
