For the next two days Paalo and I will be heading our own tour group as we show Curtis and Leigh around.
First stop after lunch is the Duomo, including a visit underground to see the remains of the old church, followed by the Orsanmichele, Piazza della Repubblica and the Palazzo della Signoria.
Poor fake David had a bird nesting in his hair!
Hercules and Cacus by Baccio Bandinelli (1534)
There are still some decent sized queues at the Uffizi so we just took a stroll along the Arno.
By the number of shoes it seems there are a few rowers out today as well
and this one is probably wondering which pair is his!
A view towards the Ponte Vecchio
and a view from the Ponte Vecchio.
From here we decide to head back and get ready for dinner but when passing the Duomo found it bathed it a lovely pink light from the sunset
While we left Curtis and Leigh in their hotel we headed back to our apartment and as I was checking things online I discovered that the trains are on strike on Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Hmm, this could be a problem as Curtis and Leigh are leaving Friday morning!
When we met them for dinner, after informing them of the situation we headed off to the station first to see what the situation was. Happily, that Eurostar will be running so there won't be any need to make changes.
