Pranzo - La Piola

Taking a break from cooking to enjoy a leisurely lunch at La Piola.

The chalkboard or lavagna is one of the features at La Piola - written daily the dishes are strictly Piedmontese while the wines, offered by the glass and bottle are from smaller local wineries.

One of the things you really get to appreciate when dining in Italy, is the wonderful selection of excellent breads. It's something our restaurants back in Melbourne could try to emulate rather than being so freaking stingy on the bread.

For starters:

Misto di Antipasto Carne Cruda

Paalo so enjoyed the misto last time he had to order it again, while I am continuing my love of raw meat with a fantastic carne cruda.

To drink, we've gone with this:

2010 Ceretto Rossana Dolcetto D'Alba

For our mains

Tagliata di Fassona con Insalta Verde Mista e Subric di Patate
Fassona is a native Piedmontese cow - char-grilled, raw, it's deliciously tender with excellent flavour.

Coniglio All'Arneis con Carote Glassate
I've chosen the rabbit cooked in Arneis and served with glazed carrots.

With dessert, we really couldn't resist having some Moscato

Moscato D'Asti

Panna Cotta con Caramella

Semifreddo Al Torrone
